Partners
A chain by definition is a series of links connected for various purposes. That pretty much sums up the essence of partnership. Partnership here at Go!Church is something that is taken very seriously. We honor and value the relationships that God has drawn together for the purposes of His bigger picture. In Luke chapter 5 we have a great Bible account that depicts partnership in every way. Jesus had just got done using Simon Peter's boat for preaching purposes (verses 1-3). When He was done speaking He tells Peter, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." With Peter being the "professional" concerning fishing strategies, having toiled all night and caught nothing hesitantly and with much exasperation made a decision to half-heartedly obey the command of Jesus. (He only let down one net, singular. The command of Jesus was to let down nets, plural.) However, Peter's attempt to patronize the Lord back-fired when he caught a "net-breaking, ship sinking" boat load of fish. Certainly, this was no surprise to Jesus! But Peter's boat was going under if he didn't get some help, fast! In verse 7 it says that they "signaled to their partners to come and help." The reason was quite obvious - without people coming to help, the harvest of fish was going to be lost.
Herein lies the urgency for partners. There is a great harvest that the Lord wants to bring to His church through miraculous means. But it still requires the practical help of others who will partner with the ministry to get in the boat, put their hands on the net and start pulling in the fish.
For those whose hearts God has knit with the ministry, we have a series of teachings that are done once per quarter called iConnect. These sessions are specifically designed to provide an understanding about partnership relative to who we are as a ministry, how to become a partner and what it means to be a partner as well as other specifics.
